Why we run the distances we do….



  1. I do not really care about the length of the track since I do not now, or ever forsee myself running on one in the future. I do, however, have an opinion about part of the article. It would seem necessary to have the javelin throw, hammer toss, and such events not impeding the runners. Why can’t these events be done between races or heats? Also, I have always wondered if running around the track the same way affects your body. I would think that one knee would be bothered more than the other and so on. I think that the smaller track would have more of a negative impact on the runner.

  2. It’s true… I, and many other track athletes I know, usually did warm ups and cool downs going the opposite ways on the track. When I did interval training, I would often change directions.

  3. This is pretty impressive: Bonnie Richardson wins the Texas state track meet by herself…
